Gary's Duck Inn was a legendary seafood restaurant in Orlando, Florida, that opened in 1945 on South Orange Blossom Trail. Known for its signature seafood dishes, including its famous jumbo shrimp platter, the restaurant became a favorite for locals and travelers alike. Its mid-century modern architecture and roadside charm made it an iconic spot during its heyday.
The restaurant gained historical significance when Bill Darden and Charley Woodsby, inspired by its success, later founded Red Lobster in 1968. However, as fast-food chains and other competitors took over the area, Gary's Duck Inn eventually closed in 1994. Today, the location is occupied by a 7-Eleven and Dollar General, but the restaurant remains a cherished part of Orlando's culinary history.
